Red X Identity Revealed Tease

Warning! Spoilers for Teen Titans Academy #12 by DC Comics

The real identity of Red X has finally been confirmed by DC Comics, as it's revealed to be Titans Academy student Brick Pettirosso. In Teen Titans Academy #12, Pettirosso shows himself as the man behind the fourth iteration and current version of Red X. However, immediately following his shocking unmasking, the second Red X returns with some bad news for the Titans.

There have been multiple versions of Red X in the comics and DC animated world. Initially, Dick Grayson used the mantle in the Teen Titans animated series to go undercover against Deathstroke. A second Red X emerged following Grayson ditching the persona, as he became a rival and adversary to the hero. In the recent Future State event, Red X returned as he became one of Earth's last hopes against Raven and the Four Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, readers are learning the identity of that version of Red X, who is a familiar face and one of the current students at Teen Titans Academy.

In Teen Titans Academy #12 by Tim Sheridan, Tom Derenick, Alex Sinclair, and Rob Leigh, the Teen Titans and the academy's students escape the collapsed building after it was decimated by Red X. After telling the students that the Titans and Nightwing need be stopped and that they are using them, Red X's rips off his mask, revealing he's Brick Pettirosso - a student seen throughout the series.

Red X Revealed DC Comics

Considering the clues all pointed to the EMP-powered student as the new Red X, the reveal makes sense. Brick immediately makes the shocking revelation he's Nightwing's son, and that served as his primary motivation, but Dick directly disproves that theory by telling them their blood samples showed they are not a genetic match. So, who told Brick he was Nightwing's son? The second Red X. The Teen Titans villain arrives on the scene and reveals he tricked Brick and stabs him with a sword - a seemingly fatal blow. That version of Red X promises a round two with Nightwing as he teleports away.

With the conclusion of the current Red X saga in the finale of Teen Titans Academy, a new puzzle takes center stage. Brick Pettirosso was the Red X readers have seen throughout the 12-issue series, but after he was unmasked as the villain, the classic Red X returned in a shocking scene. Red X might have been revealed, but the mystery surrounding the character has just begun again. Teen Titans Academy #12 by DC Comics is in comic book stores now.
